The Milwaukee Brewers have resigned 2B Scooter Gennett and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis to avoid arbitration.
Gennett signed a one-year $2.525 million contract with the Brewers. Last year Gennett hit a solid .265 with 14 homeruns and 56 RBI’s. Gennett recived a raise from his $518,100 from last year.
In addition to Gennett, the Brewers also agreed to a one-year split deal with Kirk Nieuwenhuis. Nieuwenhuis only hit .206 with 13 homeruns and 44 RBI’s, but Nieuwenhuis had a 14.3% walk rate last year along with great defense. The split deal means he could make less money if he gets sent down to the minors, so Kirk will be fighting for more than just a spot on the team this coming spring training.
