Two of the NBA’s hottest teams faced off Monday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The Bucks lead a strong first half as Giannis Antetokounmpo lead with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals at the half. Unfortunately, the Spurs bench got a 3rd quarter spark that cut the Spurs deficit to 73-71. This game came down to the wire as the Spurs come back from a second half 15 point deficit courtesy of Kawhi Leonard’s 21 points and Lamarcus Aldridge’s 18 points.
With 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Giannis recorded his 5th foul and had to sit out with the Bucks leading by two. It was a battle of scoring as Kawhi Leonard made 3 straight baskets that gave the Spurs the 84-80 lead. On the Bucks side, Jabari Parker and Matthew Dellavedova made back-to-back threes, followed by a Greg Monroe no-look pocket pass to force the Spurs to call the timeout with the Bucks leading 90-87. After the Spurs re-gained a one point lead is when Jabari Parker hit a jumper and put the Bucks back on top. Milwaukee falls short in a 97-96 heart breaker as Mirza Teletovic misses the three from the corner and the Bucks four game winning streak is snapped. The Spurs improve to 12-0 on the road.
The Bucks return to the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Wednesday to face the Portland Trail Blazers (12-10) at 7pm.
