Phil Bickford was acquired by the Brewers along with Andrew Susac in a deal that sent Will Smith to the San Francisco Giants.
As Susac saw some time in AAA and then was brought up to the major league team, Bickford pitched for A(Adv.) Brevard County to a 2-1 record in 5 games, 3.67 ERA, 30 K’s and a .252 opponent batting average.
News came out today that Bickford will be suspended for 50 games due to a drug abuse problem. This is Bickford’s second positive test for this drug. Bickford will miss a good chunk of the season for Class A (Adv.) Carolina Mudcats.
Bickford was dominant so far in his minor league career which led the Brewers to acquiring him but now he will miss 50 games.
