Admirals Survive Rampage; Admirals 5 Rampage 4

The Admirals gave up 3 goals in the 3rd to the Rampage, but a late goal by Jimmy Oligny helped send the Admirals home with a victory.

The Admirals got off to a hot start as Admirals captain Trevor Smith netted a goal in the 1st minute of the game. Admirals forward Vladislav Kamenev score an absolute beauty when he toe dragged passed the San Antonio defense and scored his 7th goal of the season to put the Admirals up 2-0. The Rampage brought the game within one when Cody Corbett scored for the late in the 1st.

The loan goal in the 2nd came from Ads forward Pontus Aberg, who returned after being sent down by Nashville last week.

Most of the action came in the 3rd period. Defensemen Jonathan Diaby scored his 1st AHL goal to extend the Admirals lead to 4-1, but that didn’t stop San Antonio. The Rampage went on to score 3 straight goals to tie the game in the 3rd. The Admirals answered quickly when defensemen Jimmy Oligny scored his 1st goal of the season late in the 3rd to win the game for the Admirals.

Admirals goaltender, and CCM/AHL goaltender of the month for November, Juuse Saros stopped 21 out of 25 shots. He gets the win and improves to 11-2-0-1. Rampage goaltender Kent Simpson stopped 25 out of 30 shots. He remains winless as his record falls to 0-3-1.

The Rampage fall to 11-13-1-0, while the Admirals remain 1st place in the Central Division, their record improves to 15-5-2-1. The Admirals now go on another 4 game road stand, their next game is Friday in Texas against the 13-8-1-1 Texas Stars.
